If you are one who wants to avoid dental decay and infection, dentists today strongly recommend participating in a daily oral hygiene routine. If you include the following steps in your routine, you will likely have an optimal, healthy, and strong oral health:

1. Brush your teeth: If possible, brush your teeth for two minutes every morning and every night with fluoride toothpaste. By doing so, your teeth with be thoroughly cleaned and nourished. Also, if you can, spend an equal amount of time brushing each quadrant of your mouth (about 30 seconds).

2. Floss your teeth: Flossing is a very important process that is often forgotten. If you floss your teeth at least once a day, the trapped food between your teeth will be freed and your chances of having a decayed smile will be reduced. Use about 45 cm of floss and wrap each end around your two pointer fingers. Then, gently lower the floss between two teeth and rub each tooth edge. Continue this process with each tooth and make sure to be gentle and tender with your gums.

3. Use mouthwash: When you are done brushing and flossing your teeth, use a bacteria-killing or fluoride mouthwash. Simply sip a small amount of rinse into your mouth and swish it around for 30-40 seconds. When the time has passed, spit the liquid into the sink.
